Debunking a Popular Education Myth:
Learning Styles
The researchers asked a group of students to each state their preferred learning style.
Then all of the students were given an assignment to learn material, on which they would be assessed.
Some of the students were given materials that matched their preference (for instance visual).
Others were given materials that did not match.
Callout text illuminating something specific about this graphic
All students were assessed on how well they learned.
How much better do you think students scored when given their preferred learning-style materials?
We didn’t find any research studies designed to show whether differentiating by learning styles helped learners, so we set out to create one
